“Playing Around” for the Manches Cup!
The Stewarts crew, under the instruction of Peter and first mate Sara Stanton had a training day in glorious weather on the Solent the day before the Regatta before mooring at Hamble Marina for dinner and some more team bonding at The Bugle pub.
The Regatta itself was attended by many top London law firms and Stewarts entered the most competitive class. The good weather with a reasonable breeze continued on the first day of the Regatta and there were two races. Skipper Peter Robson made sure that Playing Around got a flying start, being first across the line in both races. The great starts coupled with a willing crew and some expert navigation saw the Stewarts team extend their lead to beat the rest of the fleet by a very significant margin in both races.
On the Saturday evening a buoyant crew enjoyed the Regatta’s Hollywood themed fancy dress dinner. Stewarts’ fancy dress earned them a nomination for “best fancy dress” with cameo roles from the likes of the Keystone Cops, Charlie Chaplin, Groucho Marx , Harpo Marx, Jean Harlow, Oliver Hardy and Mae West.
With the Sunday racing cancelled due to strong winds the Regatta moved to its conclusion with the prize giving with the Stewarts team being awarded the Manches Cup for the First Division.
All in all a great weekend and thanks must go in particular to skipper Peter Robson, first mate Sara and the team at Sailing Logic for their logistical support
